In 1988, more than 100 thousands of us appeared in SSC examination. Most of us are born during our liberation war in 1971 or right before or after! We are such a unique generation who are growing with our own country!

After golden jubilee of our country’s age  and  our age, we all came together as one big family! Some of the family members are blessed and some are less-fortunate! Extending our hands to our less fortunate friends as a family is the primary motto of Charity forum!

Charity forum was established on November 16, 2020 as we found out hanging around with fun activities cannot be the only objective of a group of friends who are uniquely related to the  freedom of our country. We must do something for our country and something for our friends who are struggling with basic needs issues. 

Some of Our objectives:

1. Support less-fortunate friends to  become self-dependent 

2. Support friends who lost everything due to their suffering from health issues

3. Support helpless people of our country 

4. Support Bangladesh during pandemic situation 

 

Past and On-going activities of this forum:

1. Self dependent projects for friends.

   • Hanif ( a friend from Chattagram district, also a family of thalassemia patients)

   • Jafor ( a friend from Barishal District) 

   • Iqbal ( a friend from Camilla District who is also suffering from Kidney disease) 

2. Medical support Projects for friends.                                        

   • Kotha ( a friend from Bogura District who is in Comma for 5 years)

   • Mohon ( a friend from Noakhali District who is paralyzed for 11 years from a brain stroke ) 

   • Hasina, ( a friend from sirajgonj District who is a lung cancer survivor )  

   • Badsha ( a friend from Jhenaidah District who is diagnosed with lung cancer)

   • Likhon ( a friend from Lalmonirhat District who is diagnosed with Colon cancer )  

   • Lenin ( a deceased friend from Dinajpur District who had heart attack followed by a brain hemorrhage )  

   • Malek ( a friend from Panchagor District who was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis )  

3. Blankets for the helpless.

   • For people in North Bengal ( Dinajpur, Rangpur, Thakurgao, Kurigram ): distributed 1260 blankets under the banner of Charity forum 

4. Oxygen Support during pandemic situation.

   • distributed 38 oxygen cylinders to 24 districts under the banner of Charity forum

         How to get involved with

         Charity Forum?

We have several initiatives to get our friends involved in Charity Forum. 

Initiative 1: General membership 

Friends can donate minimum 1200 Taka (for 6 months) or 2400 Taka (for a year) to become a general member of Charity Forum (the contribution amount is as low as 200 Taka/month only so that most of our friends can afford and get involved). One time registration fee is 500 Taka. 

Initiative 2: Life membership 

Friends can donate 50,000 Taka
to become a life member. Life membership money can be utilized for a longer term plans / perpetual projects for Charity Forum. 

Initiative 3 :  Rapid Response Charity Team ( RRCT) Board membership

This is a unique collective way to support during urgent medical needs or during natural calamities. This team is developed so that each team member can contribute immediately as low as 500 Taka to  as high as 2000 Taka for each incident we report in the board. Each RRCT member is responsible to pay no more than 10,000 Taka in a year. 

Initiative 4: Charity contribution from Division and District coordination 

The main focus of charity forum is our district panels. Each district charity coordinator can coordinate with their respective division charity coordinator if they like to contribute monthly or quarterly. Division charity coordinators are responsible to pay any contributions they can collect from the district. On the other hand, identifying eligible candidates for charity forum’s support should be coordinated by districts and divisions before recommending to charity forum. 

Initiative 5: Zakat collection and distribution

This year’s Zakat is distributed through a Zakat panel, a sub-panel led by charity. A total of 10,15,000 Taka is distributed among 63  less-fortunate friends in 40 different Districts

Moving forward, charity forum will collect Zakat year-round.
